Description

The highly successful SILVER SMEs is a regional cooperation project, studies the strengths, weaknesses, investigates the threats, and explores the opportunities and innovative initiatives in the growing silver economy. Funded by Interreg Europe, the project has 9 partners across 7 countries. It was launched in June 2018 and ran for five years. Dedicated to the efficient implementation of related policies, it aims to improve the competitiveness of SMEs in the silver market and in the extended silver economy across Europe. Moreover, it aims to improve the quality of life of the ageing population in the communities, especially to those who live in rural and remote areas in the EU. The objectives of SILVER SMEs are: • Support regional policies in rural and mountainous areas to support SMEs embrace the silver economy. • Encourage entrepreneurship and innovation in the Silver Economy • Create and exchange knowledge between partner regions • Collect over 70 good practices to enhance entrepreneurship in the Silver Economy in rural areas • Implement the research-based Action Plans in the partner regions. Increase employment rate by the development of SMEs and other entrepreneurship activities • Increase Public Private Partnership investment in research and development for the ageing population • Increase social inclusiveness, especially for those older people who live in rural and remote areas SILVER SMEs activities collected over 70 good practices cases across EU member states. The cases covered varied fields which addressed to the key needs of older people, such as housing, healthcare, quality of life, and technology.
