Description
The City of Stockholm, in collaboration with the Employment Agency and with ESF as a co-financier, has coordinated a labor market support program specifically for foreign-born women. This comprehensive full-time package aims to help long-term unemployed foreign-born women find jobs. The program offers full-time parallel activities, combining methods such as Supported Employment, BIP, and job matching from day one.
Between 2023 and 2026, the project aims to reach and assist 500 foreign-born women. The objective is for 40% of these women to establish themselves in the labor market, as many face challenges such as limited networks, little or no work experience, low levels of education, and limited Swedish language skills. The unemployment rate among foreign-born women is around 15.9%, compared to 3.6% for Swedish-born women. The project, which originated as a local initiative within the labor market department, was formalized into an ESF project in coordination with the Swedish Employment Agency in October 2023, after initially launching in November 2022.
