GET-AHED: Green Education and Transition
Programme info
Description
The GET-AHED project is an Erasmus+ funded project supporting the role of “soft” infrastructure in driving local, social and economic transformation through individuals and institutions. GET-AHED stands for “Green Education and Transition - A Higher Education Digital Buddy” and was launched in January 2023, the project has 5 European partners and will run over a 36-month period due to finish in January 2026. The project aims to develop a digital platform and associated digital credentials for a network of stakeholders in Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). The platform will provide students, staff and management in HEIs across the EU with a range of accessible, user friendly, online tools enabling them to drive the green transition, green education and training priorities associated with the European Green Deal. The platform will consist of: 1) Green online self-assessment tool allowing HEIs to assess themselves in terms of the level of integration of sustainability across a range of indicators 2) Green online training system boosting the green transition capacity of internal stakeholders and 3) Green online energy tool dedicated to improving sustainable operations in the HEI relevant to energy and energy related systems focussed on the goal of achieving net zero energy.
The platform will enable HE groups to promote and develop whole institutional approaches to sustainability focusing on:
Designing, implementing, and monitoring institution sustainability plans and approaches related to sustainability operations of a HEI and in particular energy and energy related systems
Supporting HE leaders to embed sustainability into all aspects of the institution’s operations
Supporting staff and students in promoting greater involvement in sustainability initiatives, internally and externally
