Rui Manuel Monteiro was born in 1976 in Porto, starting to work in 1997 at Universo Banco Directo (SONAE Group). In 1998, he moved to Porto Derivatives Exchange (now, Euronext Lisbon) and continued his career on the capital markets as a Stock Trader, and, later, as a Project Manager and as an Account Manager in investment banks and asset management/ brokers’ firms until 2005 (Banco Finibanco, Banco Carregosa and Golden Assets). Between 2005 and 2008, he returned to the Euronext Group (Interbolsa). After that, he worked as an independent business consultant in the capital markets sector until 2014, and, from 2015 to 2019, in an international Portuguese group (CJR Renewables), first as a regional CFO for Europe and Asia and, later, as a Senior Investment Officer. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in International Relations from the School of Economics and Management of the University of Minho, and went on to obtain later a Master’s Degree in International Economics and Business at the School of Economics and Management of the University of Porto (FEP), and a PhD in Business and Management Studies (specialization in Marketing and Strategy) from the same school. He has been a Guest Assistant since 2017 at the School of Engineering at the Polytechnic of Porto (ISEP), and since 2018 at the Portuguese Institute of Marketing Administration (IPAM). In 2019, he was also a Guest Assistant at FEP. He is the author of various scientific articles and has participated in several international conferences. Since 2020, he has been the Director of the Municipal Department of Economics at the Porto City Council. Rui Monteiro lives in Porto and is the proud father of two sons.
