Maria Schischkin is a project manager at Wachstumsregion Ems-Achse e.V. in Germany. Wachstumsregion Ems-Achse e.V. is an association of over 800 companies, municipalities, educational institutions and chambers. Their aim is it to strengthen economic growth and create additional jobs by developing projects and improving communication between companies. The association is based in a rural region of Germany, mostly with smaller towns but also with some bigger cities in the northwest. Born and raised in the region she now works to improve, Ms. Schischkin heads a project focused on teleworking in the Ems-Achse which runs until September 2024. The project investigates the potential of teleworking (work from home, coworking spaces, etc.) in the region. It is funded by the Federal Ministry of Housing, Urban Development and Building in cooperation with the Federal Institute for Research on Building, Urban Affairs and Spatial Development and started on 1 October 2021. The project has drawn data and guidance from studies and surveys conducted by the OECD to identify opportunities to redesign activities using digital solutions.
