Rodrigo Salvado is Deputy Director of International Development Finance and contributes to the foundation’s efforts to produce high quality policy analysis that help to (i) optimize the allocation and impact of domestic resources to human development in our priority countries, including how BMFG can best help to realize the potential created by new extractives discoveries in Africa; (ii) better engage with multilateral financing institutions and global forums to advance our strategic priorities; and (iii) provide policy and technical guidance to program and policy teams for operating effectively in a global context. In addition, he also looks at innovative approaches for development financing in middle income countries. Before joining the Foundation, Rodrigo worked for the African Development Bank Group where he was in charge of the Performance Based Allocation System of the African Development Fund and the coordination of the Annual Country Policy and Institutional Assessment (CPIA) exercise.
He also provided support to the design and implementation of the African Financial Markets Initiative AFMI and The Making Finance Work for Africa (MFW4A) Partnership. Prior to his job at the AfDB, Rodrigo worked as a policy analyst for the Center for International Development at Harvard University and as a Senior Financial Analyst at the Central American Bank for Economic Integration in Honduras. He holds a Master in Public Administration in International Development from Harvard Kennedy School of Government, a Master in Economics from the Centro de Estudios Monetarios y Financieros in Madrid, and a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the Universidad Torcuato Di Tella in Argentina.
