Ezra is a Financial Inclusion expert with over 30 years’ hands on experience in Management, Consulting, Governance and Regulation. He is currently Senior Programme Officer – Blended finance with Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA) based in Nairobi with regional responsibilities. He has a wealth of experience having served in various senior positions within the Sub-Saharan Africa region. He served CARE International for ten years in East and Sothern Africa region where he started two Microfinance Institutions (MFIs) that have grown to become regulated MFIs. After CARE, he spent Seven years with DAI in East and West Africa regions. His first posting with DAI for two years was as Chief of Party for the USAID/ MicroPED project in Kenya which was building capacity of Commercial banks and MFIs to down scale and offer microfinance services. He then spent another five years in Tanzania as part of the team that restructured the National Microfinance Bank (NMB) and prepared it for privatization. Later he had a small stint as part of the DAI/IFC consulting team at The Liberian Bank of Development and Industrialization (LBDI) that introduced SME lending to the bank. After DAI, he joined FINCA Malawi as Country Director for two years where he restructured the institution to start SME lending and agriculture lending. He was thereafter recruited and seconded to National Treasury as an Advisor on Micro finance policy and regulation for five and a half years through a through a TA contract between AFD and the Government of Kenya. During the same period, he also served as a Board member of FSD Kenya representing the interest of Government of Kenya. Prior to his current position at AGRA, Ezra served as a faculty member/ Advisor of the Africa Board Fellowship Programme (ABF) run by ACCION Centre for Financial Inclusion (CFI). Ezra holds both BA and MA degrees in Economics from Eastern Illinois University USA and has attended a short course in Finance (Financial Institutions for Private Enterprise Development (FIPED) programme at the Harvard Kennedy School of Executive Education.
