Ana Fernandes is Head of the Foresight Outreach and Policy Reform Unit in the Development Cooperation Directorate. In this capacity, Ms Ana Fernandes coordinates the work of the Development Cooperation Directorate on Foresight, Policy Reform and the Policy Dialogue with non DAC members, including on triangular cooperation, and with civil society organizations.
Ms Ana Fernandes previously held senior positions as Portuguese Counsellor to the OECD, as Vice Chair of the Development Assistance Committee and as Co-Chair of the Advisory Group on Investment and Development.
Prior to joining the OECD, she was senior adviser to the Portuguese Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and Development cooperation, and was responsible for advancing strategic and innovative initiatives.
Ana is also National Strategic Counsellor to Aga Khan Foundation and is invited by several universities as invited lecturer on International Relations and Development Studies. Earlier in her career, Ana also worked for IMVF coordinating projects in Timor Leste, Cape Vert, Guine Bissau and Brasil.
Ms Ana Fernandes holds a Master's Degree in International Relations (University of Minho) and a MA in Development Studies- African Studies (ISCTE – IUL). She also holds a postgraduate certificate in European studies (ISEG) and has the certificate from the National School of Administration of Portugal on Senior Leadership and Management. She also published two books, one on economic diplomacy and another on development cooperation concepts, instruments and frameworks.
