Jim Turnbull joined EBRD in 2011 and is the Associate Director- Debt Capital Market for the Local Currency and Capital Markets (LC2) Initiative. He also co-ordinates LC2 Team activities in Bulgaria, Romania, Greece, Cyprus, Turkey and the Balkans. He has over 30 years’ experience in investment banking, pensions investment and funds management having managed both debt and equity portfolios. He has also managed foreign exchange, derivatives and treasury exposures in both emerging and developed markets. His team manages over 100 technical assistance projects targeting capital market development in EBRD Countries of Operations. As MD of Triarii Advisors, Jim also acted as an independent advisor to several hedge funds specializing in emerging market investment. Jim led the project team that created and developed the AsianBondsOnline fixed income portal for the Asian Development Bank in 2003. He has significant “in-country” expertise as team leader for a large number of capital markets technical assistance projects internationally for several international financial institutions including the implementation of the Capital Markets Development Master Plan in Thailand, as well as other development assignments in the Philippines, Viet Nam, and Serbia. He currently sits on the Board of the Depozitarul Central in Romania. Jim has written extensively on the technical aspects of local capital market development in emerging markets and financial stability and has a B.Com from University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia.
