Sony is an influential economist, finance professional, and sustainability & development expert whose career spans the private sector, civil society, academia & policymaking across several countries. He has a 20-year track record of success in tackling public policy & business challenges through original research, strategic advice, targeted advocacy, entrepreneurial initiatives and building coalitions. His leadership & impact on tackling the eurocrisis and promoting financial reform, sustainability & development have led to recognition as a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum. As a change maker, he was awarded an honorary Fellowship by George Soros, Chair of Open Society Foundations, elected Fellow by the Royal Society for Arts, Manufactures & Commerce and recognised as one of 40 most influential European Young Leaders by Europanova & Friends of Europe. As Director of Re-Define, an international think tank, Sony works with key policymakers & businesses around the world on economic policy, finance, sustainability & development. He has advised governments such as those of Norway, Germany & India, international organisations including the EU, UN, OECD & IMF, financial firms such as asset managers, private equity, banks & fintech, & businesses focused on sustainability & technology. He is also CEO of Court Jesters, a boutique consultancy that specialises in tackling groupthink & silo mentality for corporate boards, investment committees, NGOs & ministries. After leaving investment banking, he also ran DefineSolutions, an economics & investment consultancy. Sony is often asked to take on deeper strategy roles, serve on expert commissions and deliver agenda-setting keynotes. He has been a Special Adviser to the UN, a Strategy Adviser/Visiting Fellow at LSE, a Visiting Scholar at the IMF & European Commission and Chairman, BSG, at the European Banking Authority. He is also a member of several boards & co-founder of a number of influential organisations.
