Shin Song Bum

After joining the Korean government in April 1996, Mr. Song Bum SHIN has been working mostly as a career diplomat in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Republic of Korea. As Minister of the Korean delegation to the OECD, he is currently in charge of broad range of substantial issues, including SDGs, education, labor and social issues, public governance, transport, regional development, agriculture, tourism and communications. Throughout his career, Mr. SHIN has been developing his expertise mainly in the trade and development issues. He participated in many FTA negotiations of the Korean government, including ones with the US, Canada, Mexique, the EFTA and Singapore, mostly on the issues of trade in services and investment. In the Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he assumed the director position in charge of APEC and ASEM from Feb. 2011 to July 2012. He has obtained experiences of development cooperation when he worked in Baghdad as Minister Counsellor of the Korean Embassy to Iraq (Aug. 2017~Nov. 2018) and as Counsellor of the Korean Embassy to Cote d'Ivoire (July 2012 ~ Aug. 2014). He once worked as a Korean DAC delegate from Sept. 2016 to Aug.2017. Before then, he served as a Korean delegate to the Budget Committee and the External Relations Committee in the OECD from Sept. 2014 to Aug.2016. Up to present, he served five foregin posts, including Korean missions to the US, Denmark, Cote d'Ivoire, Iraq and the OECD. He obtained master's degree in commercial diplomace in Monterey Institute of International Studies, CA, USA. He majored in Economics in Hankuk University of Foreign Studies.
