Mr Cyrille PIERRE was appointed Deputy Director General at the Directorate General for Global affairs, Culture, Education, and International Development in September 2019. He was previously Director for Sustainable Development at the Directorate General for Global affairs, Culture, Education, and International Development from November 2016 to September 2019. Graduated from the Ecole Nationale d’Administration, the Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris and the University of Pantheon-Sorbonne (Public law), he became in 1997 auditor and then counselor at the French Cour des Comptes (specialized in auditing the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Home Affairs). He was appointed Counselor to the Permanent Representation of France to the European Union in Brussels in 2001 – Economy and trade policy Division and also dealing with EU-Asia relations. He joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Paris in 2004 as special assistant to the French G8 Sous-sherpa and became in 2006 Head of International financial affairs division of the MFA, at the Economic and financial affairs Department. He was appointed in march 2009 Deputy Director for global economic affairs and development strategy, covering international economic issues (G8, G20, OECD, IFIs…), development strategies (bilateral, European and multilateral) and cooperation in the field of democratic governance. He became general Director of “France Expertise International” from 2011 until 2014, a public institution in charge of promoting French expertise abroad in the field of stability and security, health and education and governance (police, justice etc.). He was appointed Cabinet Director of the State Secretary in charge of trade, tourism promotion and French nationals abroad in April 2014 (Mrs Fleur Pellerin and M. Matthias FEKL from September 2014 until November 2016).
