Description

Dr. Lorraine Gilleece is a Research Fellow at the Educational Research Centre in Dublin. She is currently responsible for overseeing the ERC’s work on educational disadvantage and has co-authored a number of reports in recent years examining the achievement of students in DEIS schools at primary and post-primary levels. She has extensive experience of large-scale educational assessments and surveys, having worked on international studies such as the Progress in International Reading Literacy Study (PIRLS), the International Civic and Citizenship Education Study (ICCS) and the OECD’s Teaching and Learning International Survey (TALIS) as well as Ireland’s National Assessments of Mathematics and English Reading. She is a member of the DEIS Technical Group and DEIS Advisory Group chaired by the Department of Education in Ireland. Her current research interests focus on improving the use of evidence to inform educational policy, with a particular focus on equity in education.
