Description

João Marôco, Ph.D. from Washington State University, is a full professor at ISPA-IU, specializing in Statistical Analysis, Research Methods, and Advanced Data Analysis Techniques. He consults for the World Bank and the Teresa and Alexandre Soares dos Santos Education Initiative, focusing on Education Statistics. Serving on the board of directors of IAVE, I.P. from 2014 to 2018, he led large-scale assessments studies (PISA, TIMSS, PIRLS, ICLS) and an e-Assessment pilot project. Marôco has conducted workshops and lectures globally, covering Statistical Analysis, Psychometrics, Structural Equation Analysis and Large-Scale Assessments in Education. His research encompasses psychometric scale evaluation, student burnout and engagement, and large-scale students' assessment. With over 450 research papers and four books, he has gathered more than 46 k citations, ranking in the top 2% of Portuguese academics and Stanford/Elsevier top 2% world scientists (Google Scholar, H = 76; i10 = 311). Beyond academia, his contributions to Portuguese newspapers and media programs establish him as a prominent voice in educational discourse.
