Frank Sommerfeld (born 1969) has been CEO of Allianz Versicherungs AG since April 2020. At the same time, he has been appointed on the Board of Management of Allianz Deutschland AG, where he is responsible for P/C. He was previously on the Board of Management of Allianz Versicherungs AG, where he was responsible for P&C Retail business. He also serves as a member of the Supervisory, Management and Advisory Boards at a number of companies and associations, including the Supervisory Board of Volkswagen Autoversicherung AG, the Board of Management and Advisory Board of Versicherungsombudsmann e. V. and the GDV Presidential Committee for Risk Protection for the Society and Economy.
Sommerfeld, a business mathematician and actuary, started his career in 1996 at Europa Lebensversicherung in Cologne. In 2001, he founded the actuarial consultancy EMB Deutschland, which he managed until 2011, when it was sold to the U.S. company Towers Watson. There, Sommerfeld headed the P/C and reinsurance division for Continental Europe, the Middle East and Africa before taking over as Global Head of Products and Services to the Insurance Industry (Life and P&C) in 2013. In 2015, he moved to the Board of Management of Allianz Versicherungs-AG.
