Susan Stone is General Counsel of Marsh LLC, one of the operating companies owned by Marsh & McLennan, Inc., and is a member of the Marsh Executive Committee. Susan joined Marsh as General Counsel on February 15, 2017. Prior to joining Marsh, Susan practiced law at Sidley Austin, LLP for 27 years, where she served as a member of the Executive Committee and Co-Head of the firm’s insurance practice. Earlier in her career, she worked as a federal prosecutor.
Susan graduated summa cum laude from Yale University and cum laude from Harvard Law School. She is ranked as a Tier 1 lawyer in Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business, included in The Best Lawyers in America since 2008, and named in Benchmark Litigation’s national ranking of “Top 250 Women in Litigation.” Susan was also named by Euromoney as the leading American woman in Business Law in her specialty. Susan has served on a number of civic and not-for-profit boards, including WTTW Public Television, Erikson institute, Roosevelt University, The Auditorium Theatre and The Joffrey Ballet.
