Alberto Monti is Full Professor of Comparative Law at the University School for Advanced Studies IUSS Pavia, Italy, Vice Rector for Quality Assurance and Director of the Risk Governance and Legal Sciences Research Group. He held tenure as Associate Professor (Economic Analysis of Law and Comparative Law) at Bocconi University in Milan from 2003 to 2011. Admitted to the Italian Bar (1998) and the Supreme Court Bar (2011), he is a Partner in the boutique law firm Studio Legale Monti, based in Milan and specialized in the fields of insurance and reinsurance law. Professor Monti is a member of the OECD High-Level Advisory Board on the Financial Management of Large-Scale Catastrophes and a Fellow of the European Centre of Tort and Insurance Law (ECTIL). He is also a member of the European Law Institute (ELI), the International Academy of Comparative Law (IACL), the Italian Society for Comparative Legal Research (SIRD) and the International Association of Defense Counsel (IADC). He received his J.D. (1995, cum laude) from the University of Milan Law School, his LL.M. (2000, Int’l Legal Studies – Hauser Global Scholar) from New York University (NYU) School of Law and his Ph.D. (2001, Comparative Law) from the University of Trento. Professor Monti published books, articles and reports on Insurance and Reinsurance Law and Economics, Financial Management of Catastrophic Risks, Contract Law and the Law of Business Torts.
