Description
Dr Serge Allegrezza studied economics and management at the universities of Liège and Louvain-la-Neuve in Belgium. He holds a Master in Economics and a Phd in Applied Economics.
He is the Director General of the Institute for Statistics and Economic Studies (Institut national de la statistique et des études économiques, STATEC) since April 2003. He is chairman of the board of STATEC Research asbl. He is also the head of the Competitiveness Observatory (Ministry of Economy) since 2005 and the head of the National Council of Productivity (Ministry of Economy) since 2019.
Dr Serge Allegrezza is the head of the LU delegation at the Economic Policy Committee (EPC) of the EU since 2004 and a member since 1997. He is also Chairman of the board of LuxTrust i.n.c., President of the board of POST Luxembourg and a member of the board of Elysis Asbl. He is a former president of the Social and Economic Council and a former member of the board of SES.
At the beginning of his career, Dr Serge Allegrezza worked as a research fellow for a few years at CEPS/Instead (now LISER) in Luxembourg, followed by 12 years as a Conseiller de gouvernement 1ère classe at the Ministry of Economy responsible for internal market policy and later for general economic policy. He was a Member of the Board of the European Patent Office in Munich as well as a Member of the Board of the Community Trade Mark in Alicante. He was a lecturer at the IAE/University of Nancy2 and a scientific advisor of the Centre de Recherche Public Henri Tudor.
