Description
Frederik Matthys is since 1st November 2021 the Head of Global Partnerships and Policies in the Development Co‐operation Directorate at the OECD.
From 2019 to 2021, he was chief of policy and innovations in the United Nations Development Coordination Office as well as the COVID-19 Crisis Co-ordinator. Prior to this, he was senior advisor to the United Nations leading and supporting the development and roll out of UN development system wide guidance and initiatives related to the UN development system support to countries on the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals. From 2006 to 2013, he was advisor to the UN Resident Coordinators and UN country teams in Rwanda and Egypt. Before his work in the UN, he worked for five years in Belgium for the Flemish Department of Foreign Affairs. He started his career in the private sector.
A Belgian national, he holds a Master’s Degree in Political Science and International Studies, from the University of Ghent, Belgium, and an additional Degree in European Politics, Université Catholique de Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium.
