Description

As ITSCI Programme Manager, Roper is responsible for delivery of the joint-industry programme. She works with the ITSCI team and ITSCI’s implementing partner on the ground to allow metal users to source responsibly and that 3T miners in the DRC and Central Africa benefit from responsible business activity. Roper has over ten years’ experience in the extractives sector including oil and large-scale mining, with a focus on human rights. Her focus and passion is conflict-affected and high risk areas, with experience working in both business and NGO capacities including corporate risk assessment for oil companies in East Africa. She has co-authored human rights guidance and reports at the UN and international policy level and consulted for extractives and manufacturing on responsible business practice. Roper started her career in NGO roles focused on private sector and indigenous rights, and an access to justice role during the Sri Lankan conflict. She has a MA in Violence, Conflict and Development from the School of Oriental and African Studies and she graduated Cum Laude from Vassar College.
