Advancing governance schemes where both artisanal and industrial mining may legally coexist within a mining concession has recently spiked the interest of mining actors across the world. Bringing together artisanal and industrial mining actors from Colombia, this panel provides first-hand insights in the challenges and opportunities of such mining coexistence schemes and thereby contributes to a larger debate on how to make mining formalization more viable and socio-environmentally sustainable.
