Description
Doctor Michel Yoboue is the Executive Director of the Groupe de Recherche et de Plaidoyer sur les Industries Extractives (GRPIE), or the Extractive Industries Research and Advocacy Group, a non-profit organization based in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire. He holds a Ph.D. in geosciences from Paul Sabatier University in Toulouse, France. He’s one of the founding member of the Mano River Union Civil Society Natural Resources Rights and Governance Platform. Michel continues to work extensively with these grassroot and forgotten community dwellers to address the plights caused by company extraction and governments.
Dr. Michel Yoboue is currently the Coordinator of the Kimberley Process Civil Society Coalition, a platform with which he has been advocating for several years for a revision of conflict diamonds definition and a reform of the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme in the context of global diamond governance.
