Description
Blessing Hungwe-Nharara is a successful small-scale miner, and her mining business interests, and experience covers several minerals, gold, chrome, semi-precious, and precious stones. She rose from humble beginnings as an artisanal miner and reinvested her earnings to mechanise and expand her mining operations. Her strong leadership skills and passion for empowering women miners have resulted in her occupying various leadership positions in women in mining associations and the Zimbabwe Miners Federation (ZMF). Blessing is a former Vice president of ZMF, founder and leader of the Women in Mining Association under the wings of the Ministry of Women, Community, Small, and Medium Enterprises. She started as leader of Guruve District Women in Mining Association and climbed the ladder to serve as the Mashonaland Central Province Province Women in Mining. Association Chairperson and the Zimbabwe Women in Mining National Chairperson (2017- 2018). Blessing also served as SADC regional leader for the African Women in Mining Association (AWIMA). She has played a key role in the formation of the Zimbabwe Women in Mines and Mining Development Trust. She is actively engaged in advocating for ASM in national and
international media and in projects to reduce mercury use in ASM gold. Currently, Blessing is a Regional Knowledge Exchange Coordinator for Anglophone Africa for the Delve Exchange programme being sponsored by World Bank.
