Organised by Publish What You Pay (PWYP) and SWISSAID
This session takes as its starting point the results of the SWISSAID study on African gold flows which quantifies the hundreds of tons of gold produced and traded informally and illegally. The session will discuss concrete solutions and mechanisms to combat illicit gold flows, in particular the considerable loss of revenue for states and local populations, as well as the problems of human rights violations and conflict financing associated with these flows.
