Description
Dubán Canal is the Secretary of the Amazon Alliance for Reducing the Impacts of Illegal Gold Mining. His work focuses on enhancing the understanding of the environmental and social effects of gold mining in the region, developing solutions for local communities, and raising global awareness about the urgent need to address the gold mining crisis in the Amazon biome. Over the past 15 years, Dubán has collaborated with public, private, and international organizations to build and lead biodiversity conservation and sustainable initiatives, primarily in Colombia. Prior to his current role, he served as a Program Officer for the Climate Land Use Alliance (CLUA) Initiative in Colombia and Peru. Dubán holds a Master's and a Doctorate in Natural Sciences from Freie Universität Berlin. He is fluent in Spanish, German, and English.
