Description
Dr. Armgard Maria Wippler is the Deputy Director General in the SME Policy Department within the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action. Her division’s particular focus is SME Policy, Service Policy and, since 2020, the development and administration of large financial programs which supported German companies during the Covid-19-crisis via state subsidies. Prior to becoming Deputy Director she served as Head of the SME Policy Department’s Section “General Issues on SME Policy” after having led the Section of domestic guarantee facilities during the economic and financial crises in 2008/2009. Dr. Wippler also served six years as Head of Office for the German Federal Commissioner of SME Policy within the Ministry while supporting the work of two Parliamentary State Secretaries in this position. Prior to this she worked for one year in the German Mission at the United Nations in New York City. Dr. Wippler began her ministerial career in 1999 in the field of SME Policy.
Dr. Wippler holds a PhD in Finance from Düsseldorf University and an MBA from the University of Cologne.
