State Secretary

Description

Milan Dobrijevic was born in 1977 in Belgrade. He graduated in Computer Engineering and Informatics from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, University of Belgrade. He has been working in the Ministry responsible for telecommunications since 2012, initially as the Head of the Department for Information Society Development and the Head of the Department for Digital Agenda Development. In this role, he successfully led the project for the transition from analog to digital television signal broadcasting, which was completed in 2015. He also contributed to drafting and adopting reform regulations in the areas of information security, digitalization, and e-business, addressing electronic signatures, electronic documents, electronic identification, and e-commerce. Through the implementation of the Connected Schools project, which connected nearly all school facilities to the Academic Network of the Republic of Serbia and provided secure, fast, and safe wireless Internet access to virtually every classroom, he left an indelible mark on the digitalization of Serbia's education system. Milan then assumed the position of Assistant Minister in the Sector for Electronic Communications, where he led the broadband infrastructure development project in rural areas, overseeing it from the preparation phase to field implementation. This initiative aims to eliminate the digital divide in terms of access to high-speed Internet in Serbia by the end of 2025. Simultaneously, he led the development of a new Electronic Communications Law, a regulation crucial for the continued development of electronic communications in Serbia. Since December 2021, he has served as the State Secretary for Electronic Communications, Information Society, and European Integration in the relevant ministry. In this capacity, he oversees and coordinates key projects, including Broadband Infrastructure Development in Rural Areas of Serbia, Digitalization of Serbia’s Tourism Offer, the establishment of the "Find Me" system, and the development of regulations in these areas, such as the Electronic Communications Law, Broadband Infrastructure Law, and Information Security Law. Milan has received recognition from NALED for his contributions to the development of e-government at the national level in 2017 and a team award in 2023 for improving conditions for investment and construction in Serbia. He also supports the development of innovative project ideas, works to remove administrative barriers to improve the business environment and attract investments, and facilitates citizens' lives through the digitalization of public services. He actively promotes comprehensive digitalization within Serbian administration and society. He speaks English fluently. Milan is married and a proud father of two children.
