Description
Hong Yuen is Deputy Secretary (Digital Economy & International) at Singapore's Ministry of Digital Development and Information (MDDI), which oversees the development of Singapore's four digital domains–Digital Economy, Digital Society, Digital Government and Digital Security–as well as the Government's information and public communication policies.
His previous role was as the Deputy Secretary (Workforce) at the Ministry of Manpower (MOM). Before that, he was the Chief Executive of SPRING Singapore (the agency supporting the growth of enterprises), Deputy Secretary at the Ministry of Law and Chief Executive Officer of the National Parks Board. He had previously held various appointments in organisations across the Public Service, including the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Trade and Industry, Economic Development Board and Infocomm Development Authority. He had also worked as a venture capitalist covering markets in Shanghai and Silicon Valley.
Hong Yuen graduated from Imperial College, London, with a first class honours degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering. He has attended the Advanced Management Programme at MIT Sloan School of Management and the International Executive Programme at INSEAD. He also serves on the boards of Eden School and Pathlight School, two special education schools focused on autism.
