Description
Gary Marchant is Regents’ Professor and Lincoln Professor of Emerging Technologies, Law & Ethics, and Faculty Director of the Center for Law, Science & Innovation, at the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law, Arizona State University (ASU).
His degrees include a Ph.D. in genetics (University of British Columbia), a J.D. in law (Harvard Law School), and a M.P.P. in public policy (Kennedy School of Government). He teaches, researches and speaks about the governance of a variety of emerging technologies, including biotechnology, genomics, neuroscience, nanotechnology, artificial intelligence and blockchain.
He is an elected lifetime member of the American Law Institute and Fellow of the Association for the Advancement of Science. He has served on six National Academy of Sciences study committees, and is currently Chair of the IEEE P2863 Working Group developing a standard for the governance of AI by entities.
