Description
Mr. Md. Ehsan-e-Elahi is the current Secretary at the Ministry of Labour and Employment, GoB. He was also the Chairman (Grade-I) of Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation. He obtained BSc (Honors) (1985) and MSc (1986) in Physics from University of Dhaka. He later earned an MS (PH) degree from the University of London in 2005 with a scholarship.
During his long 31 years career in civil service, he worked in various capacities in renowned organizations. Starting with Nilphamari district in 1991 as Assistant Commissioner and 3rd Class Magistrate, he served as a First-Class Magistrate in Nilphamari, Assistant Commissioner (Land), as Assistant Secretary at IMED in the Ministry of Planning and in the Secretariat of the Jatiya Sangsad of Bangladesh, later under the supervision of the then Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad, the late Humayun Rashid Chowdhury overseeing the management of all protocols, including the IPU and CPA. He later served as Senior Assistant Secretary in the Ministry of Science and Technology, as PS in the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and Secretary of the Planning Department in the Ministry of Planning. He served as Upazila Nirbahi Officer, Narayanganj Sadar Upazila in 2006-2007, as Additional Deputy Commissioner (SA), Chittagong in 2007-2013, as the 'Chief Estate Officer' in Bangladesh Railway after being promoted to Deputy Secretary. He worked for some time as the director of the Bangladesh Climate Change Trust under the Ministry of Environment and Forests. He then served as the Secretary and Director (Administration) of RAJUK in 2013 and as Deputy Commissioner, Gaibandha in 2014-2015. He then being promoted to Joint Secretary, served in the Road Transport and Highways Department of the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges.
He participated in different overseas trainings and tours in countries like Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Laos, United Kingdom, Australia, Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, India, New Zealand, Japan, Sri Lanka, Nepal and the USA.
