Description
Hideki Ito is Vice Commissioner for Policymaking, Digital and FinTech Strategy. In that capacity, he is in charge of overall policy making for the JFSA.
Mr. Ito joined the Ministry of Finance in 1988, where he mainly engaged in formulating the national budget. He served the Permanent Delegation of Japan to the OECD in Paris for three years from 2003 and as Counselor of the Delegation from January 2005 to June 2006. He has worked for the JFSA since 2007, and along the way worked for the Budget Bureau of the Ministry of Finance as Budget Examiner for two years. He has been engaged in a wide range of responsibilities in the JFSA, such as regulation of financial markets, supervision and monitoring of financial institutions, Executive Secretary to the Minister of Financial Services and Director for Diet Relations. He was appointed to his present post in July 2020.
Mr. Ito received a B.A. in Law from the University of Tokyo and obtained an MBA at Georgetown University in the United States.
