Description
Gregory Watson currently leads the IDB’s Biodiversity and Natural Capital Unit and its’ Natural Capital Lab, funded with $100M from the GEF and the governments of France, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Canada. He works to drive innovation in natural capital finance and to mainstream biodiversity across the IDB and in countries. He developed the Bank’s Natural Capital Mainstreaming Action Plan, led the MDB Joint Statement on Nature, People and Planet, conceptualized and led the IDB’s debt for nature conversions in Barbados and Ecuador, and supports many countries in mainstreaming natural capital. He is currently leading IDB results-based finance transactions and working with MDBs on joint work to harmonize nature metrics used in financial transactions. Mr. Watson holds a master's degree from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy and a bachelor's degree from Tufts University
