Description
Mike Sebastian leads the firm’s Investment Solutions team, including the areas of strategic and near-term asset allocation and investment manager selection. He serves as the chair of the Syntrinsic Investment Committee.
Mike joined Syntrinsic after working as Chief Investment Officer at NextCapital Group, a fintech startup, partnering with financial services firms to build and deploy technology-driven personalized investment and retirement solutions for investors.
Before that, Mike served in a number of roles at Aon’s investment consulting and outsourced chief investment officer organization, including Global Chief Investment Officer, and also founding the investment team at the firm’s innovation center in Singapore. There, he was responsible for asset allocation, investment manager selection, portfolio management and other functions across the firm’s over $3 trillion in assets under advisement. He also oversaw the development of among the first fully automated approaches to investment manager research applied across thousands of investment products.
Mike has authored and co-authored a number of journal-published research articles on a variety of investment topics.
Mike holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in finance from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and taught as head teaching assistant there, and as an adjunct at Northwestern University. He serves on the Finance Committee for Cara Collective, a nonprofit organization focused on workforce development.
