Jaesung Park is a Head of Research in Nephila, which is one of the largest ILS hedge fund managers. He is leading research on catastrophe risk and modeling, portfolio optimization and pricing, and data science studies. Prior to joining Nephila, Jaesung worked at AIR Worldwide as a senior principal engineer and led and participated in various projects including AIR’s catastrophe model development, software development for probabilistic catastrophe risk analysis, corporate risk evaluation and mitigation, sovereign catastrophe risk modeling and financing, and scientific research.
Jaesung holds MSc (2000) and PhD (2004) in Civil and Environmental Engineering from University of California at Berkeley and his primary research focused on parallel computing and numerical analysis of seismic response of structure. During his study in Berkeley, he worked on a project called SPUR (Seismic Performance of Urban Region), which was NSF sponsored large scale numerical simulation project solving fault rupture mechanism, wave propagation, and structural responses. Jaesung published related studies in papers.
