Brigid Shea has long been involved in environmental issues in the Austin, Texas community, including starting the Texas chapter of Clean Water Action, serving as an elected official on Austin’s city council where she championed environmental reforms, and acting as an advisor to various local organizations on carbon reduction, energy efficiency, sewer infrastructure, and water transfers. Since 2014, she has served as the Travis County Commissioner, Precinct Two, as well as, serving as the US Board Chair for ICLEI and North America City Ambassador for the Cities Climate Finance Leadership Alliance.
