Description
Carlos Salgado is the UNDP Regional Energy Specialist for Latin America and the Caribbean, boasting more than 15 years of experience in climate finance, development economics, sustainable energy finance, sustainable finance with financial institutions, and portfolio management.
His career spans the private and public sectors, UN agencies, and International Financial Institutions. Carlos served UNDP as a Regional Climate Investment and Finance Specialist from 2008 to 2014 and more recently worked at the Inter-American Development Bank (2020-2023) as a Senior Technical Advisor on Sustainable Finance and Capital Markets.
He holds an Executive Master of Public Administration focusing on sustainable infrastructure finance from the Hertie School (Germany) and earned a Summa Cum Laude Ph.D. in Sustainable Infrastructure & Finance in Latin America from Universidad Complutense de Madrid (Spain).
