From climate policy to action: Closing the implementation gap

This session explores how international standards, comparable metrics and mechanisms for compliance (Quality Infrastructure systems) can effectively bridge this gap, reduce emissions and boost global trade. To provide a practical example of how these efforts can drive impact, the session will draw on the OECD’s Inclusive Forum on Carbon Mitigation Approaches (IFCMA) work on carbon intensity metrics in bolstering low carbon goods markets.

Unlocking finance and investment to deliver ambitious NDCs

Join us to explore the key levers and potential game changers for mobilising finance at scale to support delivery of the next round of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) in emerging markets and developing economies (EMDEs). Speakers will share perspectives on what the private sector needs to see in the next NDCs to make them more attractive investment opportunities and how to effectively mobilise private investment at scale to implement NDCs and translate climate ambition into action in the years ahead. 

This event is organised in the context of an OECD-UNDP project, supported by the German Federal Foreign Office, that is developing new economic analysis to show the sustainable development and economic growth benefits of adopting robust, ambitious, and actionable NDCs and how they can be delivered.

Mobilising for climate action: Countries, MDBs and private sector implementing the Paris Agreement

The event will discuss how mobilising climate finance from the private sector is key to delivering on the goals of the Paris Agreement. The session will focus on the role of donor and developing country governments, MDBs, and private investors in scaling up and accelerating private finance towards climate action in emerging markets and developing economies (EMDEs), including through country platforms and the deployment of innovative financial instruments.

Joint event with the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).

COP29 Ministerial Roundtable on Greening Education and Enhancing Climate Literacy Metrics

This event aims to:
● Reaffirm the key role of education in addressing climate change to mobilize commitment. 
● Showcase good practice examples and solutions, including through curriculum and assessments innovations 
● Build consensus around the initiative to create international indicators through PISA, conducted every four years and discuss how to coordinate efforts in linkage to future COP events
● Generate commitment for investment in greening education and strengthen synergetic action.
