Description
For over 30 years, Mary Schapiro has served in both public and private roles across the financial sector, including as a financial services regulator under four U.S. presidents from both political parties, and overseen Bloomberg’s public policy and regulatory priorities globally. From 2009-2012, Mary served as the 29th Chair of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the first woman to hold the position. Mary is the only person to have served as head of the SEC, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), and the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA). Currently, Mary is the Vice Chair for Global Public Policy of Bloomberg L.P. and serves as Special Advisor to Bloomberg Founder and Chairman, Michael R. Bloomberg. Mary is also the Vice Chair of the Glasgow Financial Alliance for Net Zero (GFANZ), Head of the GFANZ Secretariat, Chair of the Climate Data Steering Committee (CDSC), and Vice Chair of the Climate Finance Leadership Initiative (CFLI).
