Description
Janene Tuniz, based at UN Environment Programme (UNEP) headquarters in Nairobi, provides technical support to national governments and local authorities in developing and implementing sustainable urban mobility policies and strategies. Her work focuses on the environmental, road safety, and accessibility benefits of promoting walking, cycling, integrated urban mobility, and digital solutions. Janene has lead the coordination of the Pan African Action Plan for Active Mobility (PAAPAM), a first of its kind regional plan for delivering more comprehensive walking and cycling infrastructure, policy and investment in Africa. Previously, she served as an International UN Volunteer at UN-Habitat, managing projects in low- and middle-income countries with a focus on vulnerable groups and low-carbon transport strategies. Janene holds an LL.M specializing in Sustainable Development from the University of Milan and a Bachelor of Law from the University of Pretoria. She is also an internationally accredited mediator (CEDR).
