Description
Deputy Director General for International Climate Action and International Energy Transition in the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK). Her responsibilities include: G7, G20, IEA, IRENA, the Climate Club and many other multi-partner and stakeholder initiatives in the areas of energy, climate and just transition, mobilising private and public finance and aligning financial flows with the Paris Agreement as well as market mechanisms and the International Climate Initiative (IKI), which has funded over 1000 projects worth 6 billion EUR since 2008.
Vera has been working on international climate, environment and energy issues for over 25 years. Before joining BMWK, she held different Positions in the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety. Prior to joining the government, Vera worked inter alia as a public international lawyer advising the German government on European and international environment legal and policy issues. Vera holds a doctorate in international and European environmental law from the Humboldt University Berlin, a Master of Laws (LL.M.) from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) as well as the German first and Second State Exams in Law.
