Description

Jorge is a Geologic Engineer with an M.Sc. degree in Earth Sciences and a Ph.D. in GIS and Remote Sensing. Before joining SWAC, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher focusing on urban form and sustainability. Additionally, he participated in consulting projects for the World Bank and UN-Habitat. At SWAC, his work centers on African cities' urban form and green spaces' distribution, leveraging geospatial data and tools for policy recommendations and capacity building in the African context. His publications cover the analysis of city shapes in African cities, the provision of urban green space across the African continent, the use of remote sensing imagery for urban analysis, the analysis of wetlands' transformations in Colombia, and the links between the built environment, health, and urban green space disparities.
