Cindy Poortman is an Associate Professor at the University of Twente in the Netherlands. She is the 4TU.CEE (Centre for Engineering Education) leader at the University of Twente, and visiting Professor at Inland Norway University of Applied Sciences, Centre for Studies of Educational Practice. Her research and teaching focus on teacher and school leader professional development in communities and networks that work in an evidence-informed way. Leadership and student agency are examples of themes she focuses on within this area. In 2023, her book The Teacher's Guide to Successful Professional Learning Networks: Overcoming Challenges and Improving Student Outcomes with Prof. Chris Brown was published. She also co-authored the Learning Conversations chapter in the 2023 OECD publicaton Who Really Cares about Using Education Research in Policy and Practice? She is the co-founder of the International Congress for School Effectiveness and Improvement network of Professional Learning Networks.
