Description
Je Myung Ryu is the Deputy Minister of the Office of Network Policy at the Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT) in Korea. He has gained extensive expertise in ICT policy through over 20 years of service in various governmental roles, including positions at the Ministry of In formation and Communication (MIC), the Korea Communications Commission (KCC), the President’s Office, and MSIT.
His notable roles include serving as Secretary-General of the Digital Platform Government Promotion Office since August 2022, leading the Digital Platform Government Task Force in the Presidential Transition Committee in March 2022, and holding the positions of Director General of the ICT Industry Policy Bureau and the Artificial Intelligence Policy Bureau at MSIT in December 2021 and September 2021, respectively. Additionally, he was a Senior Digital Development Specialist at the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) in August 2018.
Je Myung has also b een active in international affairs, having served as Counsellor at the Permanent Delegation of Korea to the OECD in Paris and as a bureau member of the OECD Working Party on Indicators for the Information Society and the Working Party on Communications Infrastructure and Services Policy.
He holds a Master’s Degree in Information Systems Management from Carnegie Mellon University and a B.A. in Politics from Seoul National University.
