Description
Paul Bodnar joined BlackRock in April 2021 as Global Head of Sustainable Investing. He previously served as Chief Strategy Officer and Managing Director at RMI, where he built global programs in sustainable finance and climate-aligned industries.
Paul served in the Obama White House as Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director for Energy and Climate Change at the National Security Council. He was a key architect of the Administration's international climate policies culminating in the Paris Agreement, including the historic U.S.-China climate deal of 2014. Previously at the State Department, Paul served as U.S. lead negotiator for climate finance in the global climate talks and led the design and implementation of numerous initiatives including the Global Innovation Lab for Climate Finance and the U.S.-Africa Clean Energy Finance Initiative.
Prior to government service, Paul worked as Director for Carbon Finance at the $1.2 billion carbon fund managed by London-based Climate Change Capital. He was co-founder and partner at Vertis Environmental Finance, a leading European environmental commodity brokerage. Paul holds a BA from Stanford and an MA from Harvard, both in Political Science.
