Description
Mike SALAWOU is the Director of the Infrastructure and Urban Development Department, in charge of the Bank's investments in Road, Rail, Port, Airport and Logistics projects to improve national, regional, and continental connectivity to support trade (AfCFTA) and Regional Integration (Africa's Agenda 2063). His role also includes Urban Development to meet the pressing needs of African urbanization. Mr. SALAWOU oversees a portfolio of infrastructure assets worth over USD 16.13 billion in Africa, covering both public and private sector projects. Prior to this, he was Head of the Infrastructure and Partnerships Division within the African Development Bank (AfDB) and has managed the NEPAD IPPF Special Fund which prepares bankable regional infrastructure projects, among other PPPs, and was the Coordinator of the Infrastructure Consortium for Africa, a platform for mobilizing infrastructure investment in Africa. In addition, he steered the Bank's support to the AU PIDA Infrastructure Program and represented the Bank in Global Infrastructure Partnerships, notably the G20 Infrastructure Working Group (G20 IWG), the MDB Infrastructure Collaboration Partnership (MDB ICP), the Global Infrastructure Hub and the Global Infrastructure Facility (GIF). Among the other positions he occupied during his 20 years at the AfDB were Advisor, Project Officer, and Country Economist. Before joining the AfDB, he worked as Analyst in the Investment Banking Division at Société Générale in Paris and as Management Consultant in Copenhagen. He holds a Master’s degree in economics and finance from Copenhagen Business School, Denmark; a Master's degree in International Management from CEMS CBS and HEC Paris; and an Executive Master's degree in Development Policy and Management from Sciences Po Paris, France
