Description
Judith Alamprese is a Principal Scientist at Abt Associates (USA) where she leads Abt’s adult learning practice and directs research and evaluation studies in adult education and workforce development.
She is currently the Principal Investigator of evaluations assessing career pathways and integrated education and training programs to facilitate adults’ social and economic well-being. She is also conducting research on the use of text messaging to support adult education learners’ persistence and program completion and on innovative practices in adult education programs. Her work on adult education program effectiveness, state and local systems coordination, and state assessment systems has informed the development of adult education policy and practice at state and local levels.
Her recent publications include a brief on building knowledge and evidence about using digital technologies in adult foundational skills program, three reports on innovation in adult education, and an evaluation report on the Bridges to Career Opportunities model. Ms. Alamprese has served on two committees for the National Academies’ Board on Testing and Assessment. She was a member of the U.S. Delegation to the Shanghai International Forum in Lifelong Learning, a member of the U.S. Delegation to the 6th International Conference on Adult Education, CONFINTEA VI, a member of the National Research Council’s Committee on Performance Levels for Adult Literacy and of their Committee on Quality Measures for Alternative Assessments of Adult Literacy. She recently participated in consultation planning sessions for CONFINTEA VII.
She received her M.A. in Sociology from Syracuse University’s Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs and her B.A. in Sociology from Emmanuel College.
