Description

Fabian Langenbruch is Deputy Director-General for “Skilling, Upskilling and Securing the Supply of Skilled Labour” in the newly established Directorate-General of the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (BMAS). He studied political science, law and human resource management. He spent several years in political planning at the then Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Affairs. He later moved to the German Bundestag where he was the lead policy officer for economic, technology and energy policy in the Social Democratic Party’s (SPD) parliamentary group. More recently, he headed the planning staff with the Secretary General of the Social Democratic Party. When he moved to the BMAS in 2018, he took over responsibility as head of directorate for fundamental labour policy issues, in particular for the impact of digitalisation on the world of work. His work focus was and is on securing skilled labour, continuing education and training and supporting in particular SMEs in designing good working conditions. The new tasks, which he took over in this legislative term, include training, immigration of skilled workers and integration into the labour market.
