Description
Colin Jordan spent 25 years in the Tourism industry and served on the Board of the Barbados Hotel and Tourism Association for many years including being its President for two years. An Elder at his church, he has served on various other boards and committees including the Caribbean Policy Development Centre’s Community Tourism Foundation, the Inter-American Development Bank’s Civil Society Committee (CONSOC) in Barbados, the East Caribbean Conference of Seventh-day Adventists Executive Committee, the Board of the Barbados Tourism Authority, and the National Insurance Board.
Colin is Member of Parliament for the Constituency of St. Peter and Convenor and Chair of the Speightstown Task Force. He has served for the past six years as a Government Minister with responsibility for Labour, Social Security, the Social Partnership, Religious Affairs and the Third Sector portfolios. Under his tenure Government established the Social Justice Committee. He serves as Chair of that Committee.
Minister Jordan represents Barbados on the Governing Body of the International Labour Organisation. He has been involved as Rapporteur of International Labour Conference committees in 2019 (Violence and Harassment in the World of Work), 2021 (Inequalities and the World of Work), 2022 (Decent Work and the Social and Solidarity Economy) and 2023 (A Just Transition). In 2022 he chaired the ILO meeting of experts on Decent work in the Platform Economy, and in 2024 he chaired the International Labour Conference Committee on Decent Work in the Care Economy.
