Description
Dr. Monica Grasso is the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) Chief Economist at the Office of Chief Financial Officer. She provides expertise and strategic leadership to promote, coordinate, and implement the use of rigorous economic analysis and performance metrics to support NOAA’s mission. Under Dr. Grasso’s leadership, the U.S. is advancing the measurements of the marine economy, with the development of the first Marine Economy Satellite Account. Prior to joining NOAA, Dr. Grasso served as Chief Economist at the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), providing expert advice, guidance, and assistance to the agency’s leadership and key management officials on economic trends in the transportation industry, and the impact of policies on the public and industry. Dr. Grasso holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Economics from University of Maryland, certificate in Advanced Business Management from Georgetown University and Executive Education from Harvard Kennedy School.
