Description
Professor Siobhán O’Sullivan is Chair of the Steering Committee for Human Rights in the fields of Biomedicine and Health at the Council of Europe. She teaches Healthcare Ethics and Law in the Royal College of Surgeons Ireland. She is Executive Director of the Royal Irish Academy Ireland's leading body of experts in the sciences and humanities. She was Chief Bioethics Officer at the Ministry of Health in Ireland until 2022 and provided advice on policy and legislative instruments on bioethics related issues. She was vice-chair of the European Group on Ethics in Science and New Technologies which advises the European Commission from 2019-2021. She received her Doctor of Medicine from Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm in 1998 and holds a Masters in Healthcare Ethics and law and a LLM in Human Rights Law.
